The Phillips Collection:

Housed in founder Duncan Phillip’s historic Dupont home, the Phillips Collection contains over 3,000 permanent pieces with works from Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Gustave Courbet, El Greco, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Pierre Bonnard, Paul Klee, Arthur Dove, Winslow Homer, James McNeill Whistler, Jacob Lawrence, Augustus Vincent Tack, and Mark Rothko. The setting in a house is a welcome change from the formal museum spaces found throughout DC. Past special exhibits have included artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and Van Gogh. The Phillips Collection has worked hard to stay engaged with the community with events such as Phillips After 5 featuring talks and live jazz and Sunday Concerts with classical music. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and those over 62. Address: 1600 21st St NW
